Scourgeholme

Scourgeholme is a Scourge fortress located in eastern Icecrown. The area contains a slaughterhouse and three ziggurats, including a newer model.

During the war against the Lich King, the Argent Vanguard was the first forward base established by the Argent Crusade when they breached Icecrown under the command of Highlord Tirion Fordring. Located in the Valley of Echoes, it gave them a path into Scourgeholme, which the highlord hoped to conquer and remake into an Argent Crusade fortress.

Their first attack on Scourgeholme was initially successful, but they were quickly overrun and had to retreat back to Argent Vanguard. Many crusaders were captured, and these Captured Crusaders had to be freed by the adventurers before the Argent Crusade could attack Scourgeholme once again. To achieve their plan, the Crusade's leaders deemed necessary to pacify Scourgeholme. Under the supervision of Highlord Darion Mograine, the lords of Scourgeholme were slain and the garrison became unable to resist any further action by the invaders.

This area phases a few times while the player works to purge the area for the Argent Crusade. Early in the chain the Lich King can be found here raising Frostbrood Destroyers to send to the Argent Vanguard.

During Death Rising, the area was infected with Gloomshroom which grew bigger among cadavers.
