Spectre

Spectres are a type of night elf and high elf ghosts. The male counterparts to banshees, they can be found in Azsuna, Val'sharah, and Suramar on the Broken Isles as well as in Darkshore.

Spectres or specters are incorporeal undead often mistaken for ghosts. They haunt the places where they died, retaining their sapience, but now hating all living things. Mael Shelub "convinced" a local spectre in the Silverpine Forest to join his forces. Most spectres resemble the more timid form of a shade, rather than the fearsome servants of the Scourge who were created by ritual sacrifice.

• The spectres are sometimes jokingly internally referred to as "manshees" by Blizzard employees.
• Wraiths formerly were used to represent male counterparts to banshees, such as with the Suffering Highborne.
• Disturbed Spectres use normal night elf ghost model and are male and female.
