Khaliiq

Last wiki revision 2023-09-18

Khaliiq is an aranakk of the House of Eyes who serves Baroness Vashj in Maldraxxus. In her mortal life, she was a Night Warrior of Elune. She plays a prominent role in both the Necrolords Campaign and the Chains of Domination campaign.

In life, Khaliiq was a member of a people who were exploited and preyed upon. She asked Elune for vengeance and became a Night Warrior, a power that Khaliiq herself refers to as "the double edged blade". She subsequently kept her city safe and became known as "the Blade in the Night", but the power had a heavy cost. After her death, her soul was sent to Maldraxxus, where she honed herself to perfection. It's not known what world Khaliiq comes from, but she is not from Azeroth.

Along with her mistress, Baroness Vashj, Khaliiq survived the near-destruction of the House of Eyes and the death of their leader, Margrave Akarek. Khaliiq accompanied Vashj in the marsh of Glutharn's Decay as the baroness pursued vengeance against Mor'Bitan, the lich responsible for their house's fall. At the Renounced Bastille, the aranakk asked Maw Walkers to collect the ritual drafts held by three of Mor'Bitan's necromancer servants and bring them to her at the Rotting Mound, where Vashj and the Maw Walkers lured Mor'Bitan into the open and killed him. Khaliiq then followed her mistress to the Seat of the Primus to join up with Baroness Draka's forces and was among those who defended the Seat when it was attacked by the forces of Baron Vyraz.

Vashj later devised a plan to permanently bolster the Seat's defenses by stealing a necropolis and—with Khaliiq in tow—traveled to the remains of Nurakkir in the fallen House of Eyes to meet with Whisperer Vyn and assemble a crew. Since Nurakkir's own helmsman perished with the necropolis, Khaliiq was tasked with finding a new one. With the Maw Walkers' help, she used a method Vashj had taught her to summon Helmsman Caliroux, a lich of the House of Rituals, and force her to serve the Eyes. When the full crew was assembled, Khaliiq and the other Eyes took control of Nurakkir by killing Gorgantus the Gutter.

Khaliiq later briefly returned to the Seat to inform Draka and the Maw Walkers that the Eyes were ready to put Vashj's plan into motion by stealing the House of Constructs' own necropolis, the Zerekriss. Khaliiq, Vyn, Navigator Xennir, Ansid the Mechanic, and the Maw Walkers infiltrated the Ossein Foundry, where the necropolis was moored. The plan was for Khaliiq to regroup with Vyn once their tasks were complete, but when she met Xennir and the Maw Walkers at the rendezvous point, she revealed that Ansid had been captured by the foundry's guards. Khaliiq concluded that the Constructs had been prepared for the Eyes' arrival, and she lamented that Vashj would be disappointed in her lack of foresight. The Maw Walkers quickly freed Ansid, after which the group killed the foundry's overseer Enforcer Borgulla and captured the mooring platform from which the Maw Walkers could travel to the necropolis' apex and use a keystone to take command of it. The Eyes then steered the Zerekriss away from the House of Constructs to have it patrol around Maldraxxus. Khaliiq returned to the Seat of the Primus to work on establishing a permanent portal connection between it and the necropolis.

Khaliiq partook in the joint kyrian and necrolord assault on the House of Constructs, accompanying Xandria's forces at the Hall of Chains. She also accompanied the necrolord forces when they prepared to assault the southern entrance to the House of Rituals, but wasn't present during the assault itself.

Vashj and her devoted were present in the Seat to witness the Primus naming Draka the new margrave of the House of the Chosen. Khaliiq reaffirmed that her loyalty was first and foremost to Vashj, not Draka, and told her mistress that the Primus would surely soon restore the House of Eyes with her as its margrave. Khaliiq accompanied the baroness to Revendreth during the mission to recruit the Stonewright. She joined the diplomatic envoy to Dominance Keep and was later among those who witnessed Mal'Ganis' defeat.

Some time after this, Vashj gave Khaliiq the mission of helping Margrave Sin'dane clear out Kel'Thuzad's remaining loyalists—the last of the traitors who'd been involved in Akarek's death—from the House of Rituals. At the same time, the night fae hunter Huln Highmountain traveled to Maldraxxus in search of the souls of former Night Warriors who could save the life of the current Night Warrior, Tyrande Whisperwind, by taking on a portion of her power. Huln and a Maw Walker entered the Sepulcher of Knowledge for information about the Blade in the Night. Khaliiq did not want to be found and tried to waylay them with traps, but they made their way to her at the top of the tower and explained their mission. She agreed to help them, but only after her current task was complete. After getting permission from Vashj back at the Seat, Khaliiq and the Maw Walker headed to the House of Rituals, where they killed a number of Ritualists whom Sin'dane had pointed out as still being loyal to Kel'Thuzad, led by the three liches Zelmany, Drava'ora, and Fal'zinge. Although it would not bring back her margrave, Khaliiq commented that she was pleased at getting her revenge. She reported the success to Sin'dane aboard the Exoramas and then headed to Ardenweald while the Maw Walker went to Revendreth to help Huln recruit another Night Warrior, the aforementioned Stonewright.

At the Grove of Awakening, Khaliiq, the Stonewright, Thiernax, and the Maw Walker participated in a ritual to save Tyrande, but Elune's power began to overwhelm the priestess and she was only saved by the interference of the Winter Queen. Khaliiq and the others subsequently joined the queen at the Heart of the Forest to witness her restoring the the night fae's lost sigil.
