- The announcement of Burning Crusade Classic at BlizzConline was foreshadowed by the inclusion of Moon-Touched Netherwhelp in The Celebration Collection.
- Originally, players were given the option of continuing to play in World of Warcraft: Classic or transitioning their characters over to Burning Crusade Classic on the new expansion servers. Additionally, players who chose to remain on Classic servers could create a copy of their character on BC Classic for an additional fee and continue playing on both servers. The option to purchase a character copy remained for most of BC Classic, being removed only a month before the BC Classic servers were updated to.
