I am afraid that I am no longer gentle or humble. Age and countless battles have hardened my skin and soul. Perhaps that is why Cairne assigned me to Sun Rock Retreat... The gentle winds and warm sun does ease the pain.

• Gossip

Some time prior to the Cataclysm, Sun Rock Retreat came under attack from the Grimtotem tauren, though it's defenders were able to push them back. Following this attack forces at Sun Rock Retreat aided Baine in retaking Thunder Bluff. As such Maggran may have been killed during the assault on Sun Rock or during the retaking of the tauren capital.
