Argent Vanguard

The Argent Vanguard is the main forward base of the Argent Crusade and is located in the Valley of Echoes in Icecrown.

During the war against the Lich King, it was the first forward base established by the Argent Crusade when they breached Icecrown under the command of Highlord Tirion Fordring. It gave them a path into Scourgeholme, which the highlord hoped to conquer and remake into an Argent Crusade fortress.

The encampment immediately came under heavy attack by waves of undead of every sort assaulting its battlements from Scourgeholme. The Argent Crusaders fought back with zeal, using melee weapons and cannons to repel each undead attack, aided also by some adventurers of the Alliance and Horde. Withstanding even hosts of frost wyrms, the Argent Crusade succeeded in throwing the Lich King's minions back from the valley. Not pausing, the breach was reopened and the Argent Crusade began working to establish a foothold on the far side. To achieve this, however, the Crusade's leaders deemed it necessary to pacify Scourgeholme. Under the supervision of Highlord Darion Mograine, the lords of Scourgeholme were slain and the Scourge garrison became unable to resist any further action by the invaders from the Argent Vanguard.

Following the war against the Jailer, the brothers Bronzebeard reported that the Argent Crusade forces have mostly drawn down the Argent Vanguard in favor of the stronger and more permanent fortifications of the Argent Tournament Grounds, while the forward base still acts as a way station into Icecrown for soldiers of the crusade.
