Mehlar Dawnblade
Last wiki revision 2023-03-07
Mehlar Dawnblade is a blood elf paladin initially located at the Bulwark on the border between Tirisfal Glades and the Western Plaguelands. His quests (the Lightbringer quests and the Blood Knight class quest pertaining to the Scourgestone, respectively) are no longer available to players.
His counterpart is the draenei Anchorite Truuen at Chillwind Camp.
Mehlar is not known for his patience.
Mehlar was once a paladin pupil of the legendary Uther the Lightbringer, the leader of the Order of the Silver Hand, and a veteran of many battles against the Scourge.
He became a member of the Blood Knight Order and was known for following a strict code of conduct and his strong moral rectitude. He worked well in tandem with other knights, and was a good exemplar of the unity Lady Liadrin sought to instill in them.
Mehlar harbored deep hatred toward his former mentor, the late Uther the Lightbringer, for teaching Prince Arthas in the way of the paladin, believing Uther's "mishandling" of the young prince's training was responsible for Arthas' betrayal and the subsequent destruction of Quel'Thalas. Mehlar tasked Horde agents with defiling the late Uther's tomb, which compelled Uther's spirit to confront the adventurer. Uther's spirit expressed sorrow that Mehlar's heart had turned so dark, and hoped that his former pupil would see the Light again and turn his efforts to restoring Quel'Thalas. The ending text to Defiling Uther's Tomb implied Mehlar's realization that his actions might have been both too harsh and too hasty.
He also successfully worked with Blood Knight adventurers and Sylvanas Windrunner to create the Scourgebane.
Mehlar is in Exarch's Refuge with Lady Liadrin and her Sunsworn seen healing wounded draenei and blood elves. He then accompanies the lady to Sunsworn Camp.
Mehlar returns to the grave of his mentor, Uther, this time to defend it from the spirits turned hostile by a disturbance in the Light following Tirion Fordring's apparent death. He now watches over the tomb alongside High Priest Thel'danis.
Mehlar then travels to Light's Hope Chapel, where he and the rest of the Blood Knights pledge their support to the reborn Knights of the Silver Hand and its new Highlord.
Following the split of the Order during the Fourth War, Mehlar is no longer a member of the Silver Hand.
After the death of Vorath, Mehlar was among the gathered paladins outside the Hall of Blood in Farstriders' Square to congratulate the sin'dorei hero for their victory in Deatholme.
