Shalassian
Last wiki revision 2023-08-29
Shalassian is the language of the nightborne. It is an offshoot of Darnassian, similar to Thalassian. Ancient nightborne language is so archaic only the oldest elves might be able to read it.
- Erana-dora isil = A thousand thanks upon you.
- Quel'vala thonos = Nobility through tradition.
- Ru shanna shal'dorei or Ru-shanna shal'dorei = The nightborne will survive.
- Shal'dorei = Nightborne.
- Tal'ashar = An honor duel.
- An'ah - Said by First Arcanist Thalyssra to cast a time stop spell.

- Tanu'balah - Greeting used by nightborne NPCs.
- Tor'theras falar - Said by nightborne mobs upon death.
- Something originating from Suramar is called "Suramari" or "Suramarian".
- Though the Shalassian word is unknown, nightborne do use the term "honored teacher" like the night elves.
- For most of Legion, the language of the nightborne was unnamed, though it was internally referred to as "Shalassian". An official name for the language was only given when playable nightborne were introduced as an allied race.
- Many nightborne have -sounding names, such as Arcanist Valtrois, Artificer Lothaire and Brigitte. Ly'leth Lunastre is an even more interesting example, considering her name is formed from "Lune" and "Astre" which respectively mean "Moon" and "Celestial body" in French.
