Overlord Drakuru

Overlord Drakuru is the Scourge warlord of the Voltarus necropolis, he is a drakkari troll who rose from being a prisoner at Granite Springs to being promoted by Arthas after his successful takeover of Drak'Tharon Keep. He was tasked with subverting the local Drakkari trolls and making them into an army of Blight infused trolls. Adventurers of the Horde and Alliance were sent as undercover agents by the Knights of the Ebon Blade to undermine his efforts and slay him. In the end, however, the Lich King was the one who killed him, disgusted by his defeat and amused by the adventurers' duplicity.

During the war against the Lich King, the wandering adventurer first encountered Drakuru when he was assigned to capture an ice troll at Ruins of Drak'Zin for Samir at Granite Springs. Drakuru proposed a truce with them, offering to share his knowledge of Drak'tharon Keep. Through the use of an alchemical potion, the adventurer maintained contact with Drakuru, who guided them in a journey to collect several artifacts that make the keep impervious: The Eye of the Prophets, the Heart of the Ancients, and a set of Drakkari Tablets.

The adventurer summoned Drakuru at the top of Drak'tharon Keep, where he revealed that he was actually betraying the Drakkari Empire to the Lich King. Drakuru was awarded the Keep and the risen dead minions from it, and charged with 'cleansing' Zul'Drak. He even offered the adventurer a position in Zul'Drak.

After the betrayal of his own people to the Lich King, as Drak'tharon Keep fell early to the Scourge thanks to his betrayal, Drakuru was given control over the necropolis Voltarus, Drakuru had a plan to infuse captured troll chieftains with blight and transform them into misshapen weapons for the Scourge.

The adventurer later encountered Drakuru after narrowly dodging a trap laid by the Scourge. With the assistance of Stefan Vadu of the Knights of the Ebon Hand, the adventurer infiltrated the necropolis Voltarus and convinced Drakuru - now Overlord - to reveal his new weapons.

In a final showdown, the adventurer used Drakuru's own Scepter of Domination to turn his Blightblood Trolls against him. On the verge of being defeated, Drakuru summoned the Lich King for help. The Lich King beheaded Drakuru for his failure, but spared the adventurer's life for having amused him.

Drakuru was fiercely loyal to the Lich King and had zero tolerance for failure. He often offered great power to his subordinates to motivate their success, and would follow through on his offers, demonstrated when he gave the adventurer his Scepter of Domination saying that they would need it to lead his army of Blightblood Trolls. Also, he seemed to have arranged having certain adventurers made into the Scourge serving under him, in a crude form of affection towards them.

Drakaru owned a variety of powerful scepters. It is unknown if these were given to him by the Lich King, or if he already possessed them before joining the Scourge.
