• He may be a reference to the Mad King in the ' series of fantasy novels and/or its TV adaptation, '. This is further supported by the description of the Podlings of Unusual Size mission, which reads: "Some say the podlings of Gloomshade Grove bow to the mad king of the east. Find him, and end his reign of podling terror." (Although this is more reminiscent of, the banished son of Aerys, who traveled to the eastern continent of Essos to try and rally an army and reclaim his lost throne after Aerys' downfall.) Additionally, the quest Game of Thorns, which takes place in the same area that Sporeon dwells in, is a clear reference to the Game of Thrones TV series.
