Akunda

Last wiki revision 2023-03-19

Akunda, the thunder lizard, is the loa of storms and new beginnings. He believes that the storm has the power to wash away regret and sorrow. Through a sacred ritual, Akunda enters the minds of those who come to his temple in Vol'dun seeking refuge and removes the memories that cause them pain. His followers do good works to show the loa they are worthy of his blessing.

The unwanted painful memories that Akunda takes from his followers are stored in the Valley of Sorrows, where Akunda's power (normally) keeps them sealed away.

As he commands the storms, Akunda allows the Eternal Spring near his temple to never run dry.

Akunda was poisoned by his follower Akunda the Exalted, who took the loa's own memories from him. Using Akunda's power, Akunda the Exalted wiped the trolls at the temple of not only their painful memories but all of their memories. After Meijani and an adventurer from the Horde discovered this, they used Akunda's powers of the storm to slay Akunda the Exalted. With Akunda the Exalted defeated, Akunda restored the memories of his followers. Afterward, Akunda offers his gift to the adventurer, allowing them to call upon the Boon of Akunda whenever they commune at an Altar of Akunda.

During Akunda the Exalted's schemes, the followers of Akunda renamed themselves after the loa. After Akunda the Exalted was slain, all of the loa's followers began to use their own, prior names again.

Akunda later participated in the defense of Zuldazar when Zul and his forces sought to destroy the Great Seal. He held off sethrak as they attempted to invade the Zocalo.

The loa assists his chosen aspect during the Battle of Dazar'alor.

After Rastakhan's death, Akunda observed Talanji's ascension as queen in Zuldazar.

Akunda's power was later used by Nailok to cleanse the Gift of N'Zoth from Horde champions.
