A Natural Occurrence (Alliance)

This quest is part of the Elemental Unrest heralding the start of Cataclysm. It starts after closing any rift (see Tripping the Rifts for known locations).

Take the Elemental Shard to an Earthen Ring Emissary in Ironforge, Stormwind, Exodar or Darnassus.

• Rift Shard (Provided)

This shard is all that is left from the rift that stood here before. The connection between the shard and the rift is unknown, but perhaps someone more versed in the elements would know more.

Seek out an Earthen Ring Emissary at any capital city. This could be exactly what they are looking for.

You will receive: (or if completed at level 80)

You found this near an Elemental Rift?

Yes,, this shard does explain the occurrence of the rift. The elemental planes have been in chaos in Outland ever since Draenor was destroyed. These shards cause a weakness in the already damaged elemental planes and allow the elementals to cross into our world

We're still looking into how these rifts are appearing in Azeroth. Keep bringing us the shards. Every shard we get brings us closer to understanding how these rifts are appearing.

The rifts are occurring throughout the world. For the latest list of locations, see Tripping the Rifts.
