Archmage Alturus

Archmage Alturus is a human located at the entrance to the Master's Cellar guarding it from demons. Before the Burning Legion's third invasion, he was located just outside of Karazhan in Deadwind Pass. He is a high ranking member of the Violet Eye responsible for gathering information about the state of Karazhan. His immediate supervisor is Archmage Cedric of Dalaran.

When Khadgar was still Medivh's apprentice, Alturus worked with Khadgar on a fire-attributed piece of the Archmage's Prismatic Disc, entrusted to the latter by Archmage Antonidas. Alturus has a private sanctum, the portal to which is located inside the Master's Cellar in Deadwind Pass.

The Legion's arrival is no surprise. The power beneath the tower existed long before you or I.

It is most unfortunate how we've arrived in our current state, but I'm afraid it was only a matter of time.

• Karazhan is more than a mere building, . If you traced the ley-lines traversing Azeroth you would find that they all converge right about there.
• <Alturus points at an invisible spot below the tower.>
• Fascinating, isn't it?

• Archmage Alvareaux once wrote a treatise exploring a fascinating theory. He proposed the existence of an exact copy of Karazhan in a world other than our own and that both somehow shared the same space.
• He went mad soon after. A real pity.

• Alturus walks across the road and left of Archmage Leryda.
