Herb
Last wiki revision 2022-01-07
In World of Warcraft, herb can mean one of three things:
- 1) A plant or part of a plant that usually serves as an ingredient in some profession (usually Alchemy) but sometimes has some other use, as with certain quest items and the reagents for a druid's rebirth spell.
- 2) A plant resource node which can be harvested by those with the Herbalism profession to gain the above item or items.
- 3) The act of harvesting such a resource with Herbalism. This is used primarily in reference to "herb skinning": the harvesting of herbs from the corpses of plant monsters.
Below is a table of all nodes that those with the herbalism profession may loot, the color code at different skill levels, what they yield, and where they are primarily found.
For a listing of what herbs are in each area see Herbs by Area.
Since patch 6.0.2, most classic herb nodes are accessible to anyone even with a skill of 1. However, low-skilled players will acquire petals, stems, leaves or brambles instead of the full item.
- Note: Swiftthistle does not have nodes but is sometimes found in Briarthorn and Mageroyal nodes. Similarly, Wildvine does not have nodes but is sometimes found in Purple Lotus nodes.
- The nodes for Arthas' Tears have been removed from the game.
All Cataclysm nodes seem to have ~30% chance of having 1-4 Volatile Life and ~10% chance of having 1 Lifegiving Seed.
- A full list of all plants ever mentioned in the lore has been compiled here.
