Training Dummy

Training Dummies are mechanical NPCs that enable you to test your dps, healing, and tanking skills out on different level mobs. Training dummies are located in all capital cities.

During his gladiatoral training at Durnholde Keep, Thrall was given a mock troll as a training dummy, made of burlap and stuffing and paint. Thrall even considered it an old friend for its presence in his cell.

In Warlords of Draenor, a healing dummy was added to Ashran. This is a friendly NPC that can be targeted with helpful spells that quickly reduces its HP to 1 over time. In Legion, a tanking dummy was added to the relevant classes' Order Halls, which will attack players in combat that stand nearby it. These dummies for other roles have generally continued to appear in subsequent expansions, such as the Shadowlands Covenant Sanctums.

Additionally, in Pandaria, dummies were added at the faction Shrines in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, outside on the terrace areas. In Draenor, dummies were added in the faction towns on Ashran, as well as at a player's Level 3 Garrison near the portal to Ashran, and certain large Garrison plots like the Mage Tower/Spirit Lodge. A healing dummy was included in the set of Ashran dummies, which would also be added to future sets of training dummies in the world. In Legion, dummies were added at the Order Halls. In Battle for Azeroth, they were available at the Zul'Dazar Royal Armory and near to the Boralus Tradewinds Market. In Shadowlands, dummies are available at the Covenant Sanctums.

Many training dummies were installed around all starting towns. They help players learn their new abilities, and often are an objective of one of the first few quests new players will receive. These Dummies have low health and despawn once "killed," reappearing in a second or two.

Players below level 60 (Alliance) can use:

which is a level 1 training dummy with a health of 1, but which doesn't decrease when damaged.
