Ogre Legion

Last wiki revision 2020-05-17

The Ogre Legion was some form of ogre faction in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Ogres are referred to as part of this Legion in their tooltips, visible when hiring them from Mercenary Camps and in the World Editor.

  • As there have been few other uses of the term, it is possible that the unfinished Ogre Legion plot was retconed when The Frozen Throne introduced the first ogre clan; the Stonemaul. A loose alliance of formerly-Horde ogres that escaped the Alliance's clutches after the Second War may explain how so many large groups of ogres managed to travel to Kalimdor (and some to Northrend) - a surprising feat for so many clans to migrate concurrently to new lands. Alternatively, the Legion might have been intended to be an ogre mercenary guild, as it is only possible to see the term in-game by recruiting them from mercenary camps.
  • A different explanation might be that the aforementioned Ogre Legion is a remnant of the Gorian Empire's Legion, as High Centurion Tormmok mentions this Legion and how Imperator Mar'gok has started to believe that he doesn't need the Legion with his new magic breakers, soldiers immune to the effects of magic. With the implosion of Draenor, it is possible that remnants of the Gorian Empire's Legion found their way to Azeroth and became mercenaries.
