Elven Ranger (Warcraft II)

Rangers are a special cadre of Elven Archers who are intimately bound to the wildlands of Lordaeron. Their pursuit of mastery in Longbow, Marksmanship, and Scouting make them more rugged and even deadlier than their brothers - traits for which they are greatly feared amongst their enemies. These secretive and elite warriors have never involved themselves in the affairs of Humans, but when Horde onslaughts threatened to destroy the Elven homelands, they quickly offered their services to the Alliance. Although their numbers are few, their presence could change the course of the war if they are deployed wisely.

• Rangers are upgraded Elven Archers, with a slightly increased sight radius and more Hit Points, while additional upgrades allow them to further increase their sight radius, range and damage output.
• They generally play the same roles as Archers, though fully-upgraded Rangers can also be effective offensively in the hands of a skilled player.
• The Longbow upgrade allows Rangers to out-range Troll Destroyers and thus discourage them from bombarding your shores.
• Rangers have a greater damage output than Troll Berserkers, though Berserkers can compensate for this if an Ogre-Mage casts Bloodlust on them. This, however, requires Ogre-Magi to be around the Berserkers and much more micromanagement in general.
