Thor Biafore
Last wiki revision 2018-02-15
Thor Biafore was Global Director of Customer Service at Blizzard Entertainment from November 1998 to August 2008. He originally started with a small team of 19 people, growing to well over 1,700 employees world-wide with multiple offices in North America, Europe and Asia while keeping pace with the biggest growth in the Massively Multiplayer Online Environment the gaming industry had ever seen (World of WarCraft). Moving through the ranks from Agent to Global Director, he was involved in all aspects of the Customer Service organization as he drove the growth and expansion while collaborating with his teams and leaders to create strategic plans to enhance customer satisfaction and improve efficiency world-wide.
- On February 13th 2006, player Sara Andrews, who played a gnome named Shimmre on the Shadowmoon server, had received a warning from a Game Master for advertising her guild as a LGBT friendly guild. A small controversy ensued with Blizzard being put on the spotlight as being supposedly against LGBT players. Following the Game Master's misguided action, Thor Biafore, head of customer service worldwide, personally and officially apologized to Sara on behalf of Blizzard. This incident resulted in sensitivity training going forward to all Blizzard GMs, and the creation of the Guild Recruitment channel, which would eventually evolve into the Looking for Guild tool ingame.
