Mage Quarter
Last wiki revision 2023-06-19
The Mage Quarter (also called the Mage District or the Mage's District ) lies in the southern corner of Stormwind City. The infamous Slaughtered Lamb tavern is located there, as well as the Wizard's Sanctum, the portal room to most of the major Alliance cities. To get to the Mage Quarter, visitors can travel southwest across the Canals from either Cathedral Square, Lion's Rest, or the Trade District.
Within the Wizard's Sanctum, the kingdom's mages study the arts of arcane magic, while their community have a task to ensure the safety of the capital and its lands. In the Slaughtered Lamb, the basement and catacombs serve as host to the warlocks of Stormwind and are used as training grounds for new recruits. Throughout the rest of the quarter, herbalism, alchemy, and tailoring related stores can be found.
During the War Against the Nightmare, while the Emerald Nightmare's mist enveloped Stormwind City, the Mage Quarter was the brighter district in the darkened capital, as the mages were constantly casting spells to repel the invaders.
In the Vision of Stormwind created by the Old God N'Zoth, a corrupted version of Magister Umbric and his followers of the Black Empire turned the Mage Quarter into a Void summoning location. In order to end the vision, the Alliance heroes had to close all the portals and defeat the corrupted Umbric in the Wizard's Sanctum.
