The Great Masquerade

This is part of the Great Masquerade quest chain.

This quest is flashy — the dialog occurring during the quest is Zone-wide. Innocent bystanders in Stormwind Keep may be incidentally slain, so warnings to the ignorant may be called for.

Follow Reginald Windsor through Stormwind. Protect him from harm!

• Reginald's March

It has been quite the adventure, friend. I owe you a great debt of gratitude. Perhaps, when all is said and done...

As you have no doubt ascertained by now, Lady Prestor is Onyxia: Brood of Deathwing, twin to the tyrant of the Spire, Nefarian.

For too long she has held our kingdom in her captivating gaze. Even the Highlord is controlled by her trickery - a puppet. It all ends today... The spell will be broken.

Worry not, for together, we shall be victorious!

Are you ready?

<Bolvar holds the shattered medallion.>

The magic held within must be reignited. The dragon's eye must be attuned.

Windsor's sacrifice has freed our Kingdom, but the threat of Onyxia and her kin is ever looming.

This medallion is what held my mind and body captive. It is also what gave me access to Onyxia's own mind - to her secrets. Albeit the visions are muddled now, some things I do remember.

Upon completion of this quest you will gain:

• 14300 XP (or at level 70)
• 500 reputation with Stormwind

While this quest may be a lot more fun with a full raid group, and can be undertaken while in such a group, it need not be.

Escort Windsor to the audience hall of Stormwind Keep, but if you stand back out of aggro range, most of the combat should pass you by, with Bolvar defeating the entire dragonkin force by himself. ... Or nearly, anyway.

If you fail this quest (Bolvar can die), go back to Squire Rowe and talk to him again. ... or, exit the gates into Elwynn Forest and come back in. Windsor should reappear.

And no, Marshal Windsor is doomed. Sorry.

This quest is infamous for bugging out when Lady Prestor transforms, with nothing happening for several minutes until the residents of Stormwind Keep simply despawn. Although many steps had been taken to correct the matter, most significantly the addition of Squire Rowe as an easy place from which to reset the quest, it was never completely bug-free before its ultimate removal.
