Last wiki revision 2023-07-18

This CVar controls the view distance of the environment. Manually increasing this CVar beyond the maximum value may cause the client to crash (Error 132).

  • 1000

This CVar accepts a range of values from 1500 to 10000 via in-game video options.

  • 1000 :minimum farclip distance when set manually (values below 1000 have no effect)
  • 1500 :minimum farclip distance (View distance set to 1)
  • 10000 :maximum farclip distance (View distance set to 10)

In-game, type the following /console farclip setting

Alternatively, you can exit wow, open the Config.wtf file, and add the following line: SET farclip setting

  • Farclip is permanently set to a fixed value in Classic. Manually changing these values has no effect. Notably, there is no in-game option to change the view distance.
  • These values are set to 2112 for Classic, and 5108 for Wrath of the Lich King Classic. These values are much higher than the original maximum view distances of each era.
