Even though this is a group quest, it's very likely that if your item level is around 50, the boss is soloable even for normal dps classes like fury warriors, and all rogues. For warlocks, it's quite simple as long you keep on healing your minion. For mages it shouldn't be a problem, as the boss uses ranged attacks. It's even easier for ranged classes to survive his poison explosion, which is the key element in order to solo this mob. The warrior, mage and all other classes that have a silencing ability like Pummel or Silence, should wait to use it until the colossus is casting his poison explosion. Right after you block that attack from him, he will burrow underground and move somewhere else.
