Nitrogg Thundertower
Last wiki revision 2023-05-26
Nitrogg Thundertower is the second boss of Grimrail Depot. The encounter is an Add fight which requires dealing with the boss, his adds and the turrets on the train.
''With a zeal for flame and explosives, Nitrogg was a natural fit in the mechanized and weaponized army that Garrosh's plans brought to, and he has risen quickly through the Iron Horde. He oversees the artillery on the Grimrail, and is eager to break through the defenses around Shattrath and conquer the enemies of the Iron Horde within.''
At 60% health, Nitrogg Thundertower retreats to his Assault Cannon at the far end of the train car. Players must reclaim Blackrock Munitions from soldiers that pour into the area, and use them destroy Nitrogg's cannon, after which they may dispatch Nitrogg directly.
- Defeat Grom'kar Boomers to loot Blackrock Mortar Shells, then enter a Blackrock Turret to heavily damage Nitrogg's Assault Cannon.
- Take shelter behind an obstacle when targeted by Nitrogg's Suppressive Fire.
- Take shelter behind an obstacle when targeted by Nitrogg's Suppressive Fire.
- The platform has many tight turns; be aware of your lines of sight to other party members.
- Reinforcements continually enter the encounter area and must be tanked.

Defeated Blackrock weapons specialists will leave behind munitions, which players may picked up and use against Nitrogg and his soldiers.
Blasts enemies in a frontal cone, inflicting 55000 Fire damage every second to nearby enemies.
Shoots an homing shell, inflicting 1000000 Fire damage to the Assault Cannon.
Throws a Blackrock Grenade at a targeted location, inflicting 114000 to 126000 Fire damage to enemies within 3 yards and knocking them back.
Nitrogg Thundertower is arguably the hardest encounter in Grimrail Depot.
Phase 1 is relatively simple. Thundertower hits the tank hard and throws mortars at random party members. Move away from where he throws the mortars.
Phase 2 begins as Thundertower rides to the front of the train cart, blasts away the walls and begins sending Grom'kar Gunners, Grom'kar Grenadiers, and Grom'kar Boomers at the party. His turret will shoot Suppressing Fire at a random party member, the shots will hurt both the target and those around him/her. Getting behind the various boxes and pillars will block the shots. The turret's health is too high to destroy normally, so the party must loot the dead Boomers, take their mortars, and use the turrets on the side of the train to destroy Thundertower's turret. Use the dead Grenadier's grenades to kill the adds faster and keep the pressure off the tank.
Phase 3 begins after Thundertower's turret is destroyed by the party's mortars. Thundertower will attack the party once again, this time with more adds spawning. Use your cooldowns and the grenades to finish off the boss.
