WoW: Forever Beta Is Over. Can an Endgame With No Expansions Last?
The WoW: Forever beta has ended, and PC Gamer says its one fear is the endgame. Forever gets no expansions and grows sideways at level cap. Here is the case for and against, and what we will track.
TL;DR: The WoW: Forever beta is over. In a new piece, PC Gamer says its one fear is the endgame: Forever gets no expansions and instead grows sideways once you hit level cap. Will that hold players for years?
The worry
PC Gamer's point is simple. Without a new expansion every couple of years, there is no fresh level cap and no reset of gear. Everything new has to fit at the cap you already have. If the new content is thin, the game could feel finished fast.
The case for sideways growth
- Gear keeps its value. Nothing you earn is wiped by a level-cap bump.
- Alts matter more. With your 3 reserved names, more classes and factions to try means more long-term play.
- Raids unlock over time. Raid content is staged, with more unlocking on December 9, so the cap has a schedule, not a wall.
What we will track
After launch, Everloot will watch what players actually farm at cap: which drops people chase and how that changes week to week. That data will show whether sideways growth keeps people busy.
News recap and opinion. Everloot has no addon data yet; Forever launches November 4.
