TL;DR: WoW: Forever is targeting a major patch about every 4 months, roughly three a year, Principal Game Designer Kris Zierhut told IGN. PvP seasons will also run 4 months, and some content will unlock between major patches.

What Blizzard said

Per Wowhead's recap of the IGN interview, the team tested pacing across Classic. Season of Discovery's 8–10-week patches felt too fast. Zierhut:

"You might have patches with major releases four months apart, but there may be things that unlock two or three months in or one month into that."

What it means for players

  • About 3 major patches a year, each sized for smaller, local stories.
  • PvP seasons of 4 months that line up with patches.
  • Staggered unlocks. A patch won't drop everything on day one.
  • The road ahead. Molten Core, Blackwing Lair and AQ are coming on a stretched timeline. Blizzard also mentioned the Emerald Dream, an explorable Grim Batol and pre-Cataclysm Gilneas as places it wants to go, per the full interview summary.
  • Respecs. Dual spec is in at launch, and a third spec is "not off the table." No on-the-fly talent swapping.
  • No player housing planned right now.

News recap. Everloot has no addon data on patches yet.

Help the DB grow: install the Everloot addon before launch on November 4 so your drops count from day one.
